The DrillFreak Story
What started out as a dad teaching his young son the golf swing - in a very methodical way - in a garage, morphed into a 26-year professional golf teaching career. Years ago, the word spread like wildfire how well Scotty’s son, Corey, was playing. This compelled many other golfers to follow Corey’s footsteps and become students of Scotty’s as well.
Today, Scotty holds a great golf teaching resume - including a 5x-Top 100 Golf Instructor ranking as a member of both W.G.T.F. and I.P.G.A., along with golf psychology and master class certifications, the position of Director of Golf at Scott Greens Golf Club, Director of Instruction at A Swing for Life Golf Academy, and the Drill Freak Golf YouTube Channel for golf instruction. Scotty’s “A Swing for Life” Golf Academy found a home at his family-owned golf business - Scott Greens Golf Club - with hundreds of students enrolled.
From the start, Scotty employed drills to fix certain flaws in a golf swing, especially in the “hitting zone” of the swing. What followed was an obsession to find a drill or create a set of drills to fix anything within the confines of the golf swing - including issues with a student’s mobility and their mental approach while on the golf course.
Scotty’s reputation and his “secret sauce” ... drills, drills, and more drills … led to many students becoming champions every year. It was those same students who knighted him with the moniker – Drill Freak.
Over the years, the golf academy has evolved into a highly-respected school for golfers, but one thing has remained constant – Scotty’s philosophy of finding or creating drills to fix flaws in any golfer’s swing. Now, he and all of his students are on their way of building a

My passion for this game has led me down many interesting fairways, and meeting very interesting people. Oh and yes, I’ve seen my share of hazards as well, but the thought of it never altered the way I became a student - then instructor - of the game, and the learning process that still goes on.
